Nearly 40 North Olympic Peninsula residents are among the more than 1,000 firefighters sent to battle Central Washington wildfires.
The Peninsula contingent is comprised of 19 Olympic National Park and 17 state Department of Natural Resources firefighters.
Three Olympic National Park helitechs — airborne officers — and one Olympic National Forest firefighter were also dispatched.
Additionally, 40 minimum-security inmates from Olympic Corrections Center are also on scene.
A complete list of all North Olympic Peninsula firefighters dispatched to the blazes was unavailable Wednesday.
