North Olympic Peninsula high school graduation ceremonies are planned this month.
Commencement ceremonies are slated this weekend for graduating seniors at Forks, Sequim, Port Townsend, Chimacum and Quilcene high schools.
Jefferson Community School is conducting its ceremony, a private event, at 5 p.m. today in the Pope Marine Building in Port Townsend. The Quileute Tribal School in La Push conducted a graduation ceremony for two seniors May 31. A fifth-year senior had graduated at the end of the first semester.
Here are details about this weekend’s ceremonies:
• Sequim High School — The ceremony for about 196 graduating seniors will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the football field at the high school at 601 N. Sequim Ave. Doors will open at 5 p.m. for those with tickets; the general public can enter at 6 p.m.
Graduating seniors will not receive their diplomas until after snow makeup days for seniors June 10-11.
Others will have snow make-up days June 14, 17, 18 and 19, with the latter being the last day of school.
• Port Townsend High School — The ceremony for about 69 graduating seniors plus two full-year exchange students will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the McCurdy Pavilion at Fort Worden.
• Chimacum High School — Graduation for about 80 seniors will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the McCurdy Pavilion at Fort Worden.
• Quilcene High School — The graduation of about 20 seniors will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Quilcene School Gym, 294715 U.S. Highway 101.
• Forks High School — The graduation of about 70 seniors will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Spartan Gym at 261 S. Spartan Ave.
Later in the month will be these graduations:
• Port Angeles High School — The ceremony for about 232 graduating seniors will be from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, June 14 at Civic Field, 307 S. Race St. The gates will open at 6 p.m. to ticket holders and at 7 p.m. for the general public.
The ceremony will be live-streamed from Civic Field by Patric McInnes, high school video production instructor, and his crew. A student production team will manage the cameras, switchboard, sound and graphics during the stream. The link is tinyurl.com/PDN-YouTube-Graduation.
Although others will have two snow makeup days June 19-20, with a half-day June 21, graduating seniors will be finished with their high school careers after the ceremony.
• Neah Bay High School — The ceremony for about 22 graduating seniors will be at 7 p.m. Friday, June 14 in the high school gym at 3560 Deer St.
• Clallam Bay High School — The ceremony for about 10 graduating seniors will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15 in the high school gym at 16933 state Highway 112.
• Crescent High School — The ceremony for about 14 graduating seniors will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 15 in the gymnasium at Crescent High School, 50350 state Highway 112, Joyce.
• Lincoln High School — The ceremony for about 16 graduating seniors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 20 at the Little Theater on the Port Angeles Peninsula College campus,1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
• Peninsula College — The commencement ceremony will be at 2 p.m. June 22 on the lawn behind the PUB at the Port Angeles campus.
