A late-winter storm Thursday brought snowfall to many areas of the North Olympic Peninsula.
By nightfall, rural residents were reporting accumulations of more than 3 inches of snow near Port Angeles and Sequim and more than 6 inches near Joyce, Lake Sutherland and Lake Crescent.
On the West End, residents in the Clallam Bay-Sekiu area said the hills were white but that snow was not accumulating near sea level.
City residents reported less snowfall.
In Sequim and some Port Angeles neighborhoods, accumulations averaged between 2 inches and 3 inches as of 9 p.m.
Despite sometimes heavy snowfall, only a light dusting had accumulated in downtown Port Angeles.
Snowfall had not accumulated in Port Townsend by 9 p.m.
As of late Thursday, a snow advisory remained in effect for the North Olympic Peninsula.
More than 3 inches was expected overnight in some Peninsula locations and meteorologists predicted an additional 2 inches or more would fall today.
