The final touches are being put in place on a 10-year restoration project, most of which has taken place during the winter months to allow the ship, run by the nonprofit Sound Experience, to be on the water and provide environmental education programs and opportunities for maritime careers.

A public launch will be held about 10 a.m. this Friday at the Port Townsend Boat Haven marina.
