Bless this pet ceremony held in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — The Rev. Kristin-Luana Baumann of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and the Rev. Gail Wheatley of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church came together for the first time in a blessing of the animals Sunday afternoon at the downtown Port Angeles Gateway Center.

This was done in celebration of St. Francis of Assisi’s feast day.

In a 20-minute ceremony with song and responsive reading from the book of Genesis, the two reverends then blessed individually each of the 20 dogs that were present.

Treats and water were provided for the dogs.

Shown here Rachelle Whitley, on the electric scooter, has Harley blessed by Baumann while her other dog, Rufus, waits his turn.
