PHOTO: Boat avoids damage in Port Townsend fire

PORT TOWNSEND — Smoke billows from the Viking, a Trident Seafood vessel that escaped damage Friday afternoon at Port Townsend Boat Haven.

The fire broke out after a welding mishap which caused a foam mattress to catch on fire from the heat.

Port of Port Townsend officials said the boat was not damaged and no injuries were reported, including to a small dog that was onboard. East Jefferson Fire-Rescue responded to the call.
