Jefferson County Sheriff Joe Nole swears in Andy Pernsteiner, left, as undersheriff during a Friday ceremony at East Jefferson Fire-Rescue Station 1-1 in Chimacum.

Pernsteiner, now the second in command at the Sheriff’s Office, has spent more than 20 years with the department as a patrol deputy and sergeant.

Nole also welcomed new deputy Kolby Schreier to the office. Schreier previously had been with the Port Townsend Police Department.
