Above, Joyce community members examine a MKT99 field kitchen Saturday at the Joyce Bible Church after the mobile commissary was donated as surplus by the U.S. Army National Guard to the Joyce Emergency Planning and Prep committee.
The kitchen is able to feed more than 300 people per day in the wake of an earthquake or other natural disaster that might leave the Joyce area isolated from the rest of the world.
Below, Rae Leiper of Joyce, right, pulls out packing covers from the mobile field kitchen as U.S. Army National Guard Sgt. Ray Champaco, left, and emergency preparedness advocate Jim Buck, center, look on during a community demonstration of the kitchen Saturday in Joyce.
