FORKS — Imagine a band of eight teenagers together on a small island. Each has been lured there for a particular reason, and now all must figure out how to survive — and deal with one another.

So goes the premise of “Stranded,” the “Gilligan’s Island” meets “Survivor” play opening Friday at Forks High School.

In just four performances, the youthful cast will portray a motley bunch of characters: a presidential candidate, a grouchy fisherman, a computer nerd, a fit grandma, a professional basketball player, a teenager and a band of “mini-pirates” with their own pirate queen.

This is a tale of quirky people working together in the face of adversity, said Wendy Bennett, leader of Forks High’s after-school drama club.

It’s also her students’ lighthearted look at reality television shows.

Curtain times

Curtain times for “Stranded” are 7 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday in the Forks High auditorium, 261 Spartan Ave. General admission will be $5, while seniors and students with an ASB card will be admitted for $4.

In this play written by Megan Orr, “the kids have really made the characters their own,” said Bennett, who has been running the school’s drama program for seven years now.

The actors, who range from freshmen to seniors, added their own touches on the production, she said, so “it really showcases what our students can do.”

The players are Hannah Brock, Juliana Buonpane, Lauren Decker, Marlene Llamas-Luna, Rosalia Julio-Flores, Anna Sinclair, Joe Snell, Rebekah Johansen, Marcelino Tegoseak, Miguel Rodriguez, Makenzie Weston, Sabrina Collins, Madi Lawson, Maria Hernandez, Maya Trettevik, Maria Wade and Mika Velasquez, while the backstage crew includes Eryn Abrahams, Thomas Wade, Darel Maxfield and Mary Soha.
