A trail of stolen items from St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Sequim led police to a man suspected of being a burglar seen earlier in the church, authorities said Monday.
An early morning alarm in the church Saturday led Officer Dave Campbell to spot the burglar in the church basement. The startled suspect fled, but he left a backpack and damaged church property nearby.
Items in the backpack identified its owner, which led police to Mountain View Apartments at 303 S. Fifth Ave. Using a search warrant, police found the resident’s temporary roommate and other evidence allegedly tying the roommate to the burglary.
