PORT ANGELES — Two Port Angeles men are in jail after investigators seized about 150 marijuana plants, several thousands of dollars in cash and about 12 ounces of processed marijuana from two residences Wednesday.
Marcus Hayes Cannon, 57, and Jasper Edwin Smith, 27, were both charged Thursday in Clallam County Superior Court with manufacturing a controlled substance.
Sgt. Eric Kovatch of the Port Angeles Police Department, who runs the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team, said investigators had been working on the case for about a month.
The amount of light bulbs and other growing equipment seized indicated the pair was planning to start another major growing endeavor, Kovatch said.
“You got people out there that grow marijuana for personal use,” he said.
“Then you have people that grow for profit, and this was a for-profit operation.”
