PORT ANGELES — The city’s proposed stormwater utility charge will be the subject of a special meeting of the Utility Advisory Committee at 3 p.m. today, Thursday, in the Public Works Conference Room of City Hall.
The proposal — which has drawn fire from some local business owners — hasn’t changed. Committee members just want more information on various topics before making a recommendation to the City Council, said City Public Works and Utilities Director Glenn Cutler on Wednesday.
Some of those topics include stormwater impacts, consequences of not complying with state and federal stormwater regulations, cooperative efforts between the city and county, alternative funding sources, stormwater’s impact on development and what other cities are doing about the issue.
If the committee makes a recommendation at today’s meeting at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St., the issue could come before the council for a decision June 4.
