Supermarket giant Albertson’s Inc. will close 165 stores in 25 states over the next year.
But corporate officials for the grocery store chain won’t say which stores will be closed.
According to a company spokesman, the Port Angeles store will be evaluated during the next year, along with the rest of the stores in the national chain.
Only the least productive branches will be closed, he said.
Company officials said about 25 percent of closures would be stand-alone drug stores, which Albertson’s operates under the Osco Drug and Sav-On names.
Closing the stores could mean eliminating 1,600 jobs nationally.
