PORT ANGELES — Three children were transported to the hospital as a precaution Monday after the school bus in which they were riding and a van collided.
The collision was the second involving a school bus in Port Angeles in less than a week.
In Monday morning’s crash, a van that allegedly ran a stop sign at Fifth and Chambers streets struck the Port Angeles School District bus.
“It could have been a lot worse,” said district Transportation Supervisor Jerry Eldred.
“The children were taken to the hospital just as a cautionary measure.”
They were checked by physicians at Olympic Medical Center and released, he said.
Last Thursday, 18-year-old Shane M. Lusk of Port Angeles was seriously injured when the pickup truck in which he was riding collided with an Olympic Christian School bus carrying six children.
