PORT ANGELES — Backers of the newly created Peninsula College Applied Environmental Technologies Center of Excellence will be lauded by the college today.
Individuals and business donors who supported funding for the center, which will open to students later this year, will be recognized at a news conference called on the college campus.
The center is a collaborative effort among several local agencies, including the Clallam County Economic Development Council, Peninsula College and private businesses.
A total of about $400,000 for two years has been committed to the center.
The state Board for Community and Technical Colleges committed $100,000 for each of the two years.
Matching community and college funds totaling $100,000 per year will supply the rest of the $400,000 total.
