Both lanes of Port Angeles’ Eighth Street bridge over Tumwater Creek — the westernmost span — will be closed Thursday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. to allow for replacement of structural wood supports beneath the towering bridge.
The work is part of the bridge’s annual maintenance, Port Angeles city officials said.
Detours are available along Tumwater Street to Marine Drive or C Street to Lauridsen Boulevard to U.S. Highway 101.
Tumwater Truck Route, state Highway 117, will be reduced to one lane with flag control near the bridge from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.
