PORT ANGELES — Daishowa America Co. has hired a Canadian to oversee its pulp and paper mill operations in Port Angeles.
Harold Norlund, 46, of Mackenzie, British Columbia, is settling into the top job at the Daishowa mill, the largest private employer in Clallam County with about 280 workers.
Norlund succeeds former mill manager Mark Hannah, who retired Oct. 1.
Daishowa Engineering Manager Dean Reed served as interim manager until Norlund started Monday.
Prior to accepting the post at the mill on Ediz Hook Road, Norlund served as general manager of the Abitibi Consolidated paper mill in Mackenzie. Before that, he said he worked at the Crofton mill for NorskeCanada — the main competitor of Daishowa in Port Angeles.
