PORT ANGELES — The city’s newest playground at Erickson Park on Race Street should be popular with kids — it will be their creation.
The playground will be designed and created by children with a little help from the New York architectural firm Leathers and Associates, the Kiwanis Club of Port Angeles and community members, said Janet Drysdale, one of the project organizers.
“The city is looking to replace that equipment. Bainbridge Island, Lincoln City, Ore., and Cour d’Alene, Idaho, have these kid-designed playgrounds. They are really neat, really unique,” Drysdale said.
“Dream and Design Day” is scheduled Friday, Feb. 22, to begin planning the project. The childrens’ designs will be shared with the public at 7 p.m. at the Vern Burton Center.
