PORT ANGELES — The School Board will not consider closing Choice Alternative High School as a way to save money and balance its 2003-04 budget.
School district officials announced Wednesday the closure, which was listed as a possible cost-saving measure on the Fiscal Advisory Committee’s budget recommendations, is off the table.
“Even if it did have support, all five members of the board are fully committed to alternative education,” School Board President Charlie McClain said Thursday.
“Whatever the cost to the district, we’re going to continue to support alternative education. We wanted to make sure that that was off the table and that people didn’t worry.”
Closing Choice was one of 39 money-saving recommendations previously under consideration.
