PORT ANGELES — School district officials have eliminated the principal position at Choice Community School, but say the alternative high school will remain open at its current location.
Port Angeles School District Superintendent Gary Cohn said the half-time principal position held by Cecilia “Cookie” Kalfur was eliminated to reduce the number of staff members to comply with state enrollment funding formulas.
The popular Kalfur will be reassigned as a teacher at Choice, which stays at 924 W. Ninth St. next school year.
District officials are in the process of deciding who will take over administrative duties at Choice, including who makes disciplinary decisions.
