LAKE SUTHERLAND — A possible resolution to the future of the Port Angeles underground emerged from Saturday’s Port Angeles City Council retreat held at Mayor Glenn Wiggins lakeside home here.
The council also discussed the downtown parking shortage expected to result from the Gateway Transportation Center project, the future of the Ennis Creek Estates development and potential revenue sharing with Clallam County in the “urban growth area” east of the city limits.
The “Port Angeles Underground” consists of a two-block area around Front Street between Oak and Lincoln streets with subterranean walkways and old storefronts.
The underground includes colorful wall murals, the Elwha Theater, 1900s facades and a tunnel to the former brothel above the Family Shoe Store, 130 W. Front St.
