PORT ANGELES — The City Council will consider on Tuesday $150,000 to the Harbor-Works Public Development Authority for a start-up fund.
The Port Angeles City Council will meet at 6 p.m. in council chambers at City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.
The city and port created Harbor-Works in May to oversee the cleanup of Port Angeles Harbor and, especially, the long-stalled cleanup of the privately owned site of the former Rayonier Inc. pulp mill in eastern Port Angeles.
The public development authority already has been granted $150,000 from the Port of Port Angeles, the three port commissioners having unanimously approved the loan last Monday.
The port approved Harbor-Works’s expected operating expenses from now through December — $195,982 — and the council will consider them on Tuesday.
The salary for a permanent executive director — who is yet to be selected — was budgeted at $12,000 per month, but the exact salary for that job hasn’t been determined, said Orville Campbell, chairman of the Harbor-Works five-member board formed in June.
