PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles City Manager Kent Myers has applied for the city manager position in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Myers, who was hired in December 2008, said he applied for the job to be closer to family.
He said most of his family lives within three hours of the city in south Texas.
Myers said he notified the City Council and staff late last month.
He is one of 53 applicants.
Myers said this is the only job he has applied for while he has been Port Angeles’ city manager.
Corpus Christi had an estimated population of 282,024 in 2006.
The city’s retiring manager makes $172,707 a year.
Myers makes $157,590 a year as Port Angeles’ city manager.
Port Angeles has a population of 19,380.
Myers will know by the end of the month if he is a finalist. Interviews will be held in February.
