PORT ANGELES — City Manager Kent Myers announced today that he is no longer in the running for the city manager job in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Myers, who has worked in Port Angeles for about two years, applied for the job in December and was one of more than 50 hopefuls, according to the Corpus Christi Caller-Times newspaper.
Myers, keynote speaker at today’s Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce luncheon, said that he’s staying put in Port Angeles.
“I did not interview there and am no longer in the running for that position,” he said. “There are no other applications out there.”
Myers, a Texas native, said he receives calls every month from recruiters and decided to apply for the job because it would allow him to be closer to his family.
Corpus Christi’s retiring manager makes $172,707 a year. The city has an estimated population of 282,024.
Myers makes $157,590 a year as Port Angeles’ city manager. Port Angeles has an estimated population of 19,380.
