PORT ANGELES — Faced with flat revenues and increasing costs, city officials are proposing to follow Clallam County’s lead and cut back dedicated animal control services.
The preliminary 2003 city budget includes only a half-time animal control officer, although its $45,000 contract to house animals at the Humane Society animal shelter is maintained.
The Police Department is also eliminating a records officer position and slashing the hours spent on parking enforcement, Riepe said.
The city has had full-time animal control services for 25 years.
