PORT ANGELES — A city official has stepped in to try to save the historic Lincoln Theatre from closing its doors next month.
Economic Development Director Tim Smith said Wednesday he was asked by G.M. Lauridsen Trust officials to help negotiate a lease agreement to keep the three-screen, 163-seat downtown theater open.
The trust owns the building leased to the Lincoln’s operator, Sun Basin Theaters of Wenatchee.
The talks began Wednesday, Smith said.
Previously, negotiations between Lauridsen Trust and Sun Basin had reached an impasse.
