PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles city officials, who last week changed street work for a spring storm drain project on a downtown main street to the daytime, is meeting with the Port Angeles Downtown Association again tomorrow morning.

Downtown association members will then get to vote: day or night.

The meeting will start at 7:30 a.m. in the council chambers at Port Angeles City Hall, 321 E. Fifth St.

City officials, following a sparsely attended meeting with downtown merchants last week, changed the construction work from nighttime — which would have allowed for car access on torn-up First Street between Valley and Laurel streets during business hours — to the daytime.

That move has stirred a protest petition drive and street-side picket Monday by one of the downtown merchants, Don Zeller, owner of Zeller’s Antiques, that was critical of Public Works Director Glenn Cutler.

Cutler is expected to attend Wednesday morning’s meeting.
