Command of the North Olympic Peninsula’s largest Coast Guard cutter will change Thursday morning.
Cmdr. John F. Prince will relieve Capt. Robert E. Reininger as commanding officer of the Active in ceremonies at 10:30 a.m. aboard the cutter docked at Port Angeles City Pier.
Reininger has been selected to serve as a Coast Guard Fellow to the Chief of Naval Operations’ Strategic Studies Group in Newport, R.I., doing strategic analysis on how to improve Coast Guard operations.
Prince’s last sea duty was aboard the U.S. Coast Guard cutter Walnut, a buoy tender based in Hawaii.
