PORT ANGELES — Students, parents and other residents are calling on the School Board to rescind the district’s decision to eliminate the Choice Alternative High School principal position.
About 30 people called on the School Board to reinstate Cecilia “Cookie” Kalfur as principal of the alternative school during a forum attended by about 130 people.
Superintendent Gary Cohn announced the decision to eliminate the halftime position last Friday, a move officials say will save the district $35,000 annually.
The district needs to cut between $500,000 and $1 million to balance its 2003-04 fiscal budget.
