PORT ANGELES — Once they review the city’s midyear financial report card at a special meeting tonight, City Council members will decide how much they want to spend on refurbishing the Carnegie Library building.
Project bids for the former library building were opened July 2 and the lowest responsible bidder, at $1.1 million, was Hoch Construction Inc. of Port Angeles.
The city’s projected funding for the project is $912,049, including library construction bonds, 2000 and 2001 capital facilities money, 2001 budget money and Walkling Trust funds.
The city staff recommended proceeding only on the $957,346 base bid and waiting on seven bid options until funding becomes available.
