Active arrives June 9, one day earlier
The Active will return to Port Angeles a day early so crew members can be honored with a rousing community celebration for last week’s largest cocaine seizure in maritime history.
The Coast Guard cutter was authorized to come home Saturday, June 9, so its arrival won’t conflict with a hospital health fair at City Pier the next day, said Terry Roth, general manager of Northwest Duty Free Stores and Chamber of Commerce committee member planning the pierside party.
The Active, now on patrol off California, is expected to arrive at 2 p.m. Roth said specifics of the welcoming celebration are being worked out.
