The name of Daishowa America Ltd. changes on Wednesday when it becomes Nippon Paper Industries USA Co., Ltd.
“The name change indicates that our mill has truly become a part of the Nippon group,” President Teruo “David” Tamaki said in an interview at his corporate office in Port Angeles near the Marine Drive paper mill.
“It is a starting point with a new organization — and beyond that it represents to us that we must realize the potential of this mill, overcome the challenges and live up to the expectations of our new parent.”
Tamaki told the mill’s 246 employees of the name change on Friday.
The design of a new sign is under way, he said.
