Port Angeles: Downtown landowner vows to fight condemnation over Gateway

PORT ANGELES — Clallam Transit System has filed condemnation lawsuits against two downtown property owners and a third is pending in an attempt to obtain land for the planned International Gateway Transportation Center.

But the third property owner, Heckman Motors CEO Jim Heckman, has vowed to fight the downtown project as currently proposed.

Budget Rent-A-Car president Jack Heckman told the City Council on Tuesday night he was upset it was giving Clallam Transit “carte blanche” to proceed with condemnation without the opportunity to negotiate first.
