BREMERTON — A Port Angeles truck driver avoided injury in a wreck on state Highway 3 in Bremerton, but the resulting loss of his load blocked traffic for several hours early Wednesday morning.
Travis G. Dickman, 30, of Port Angeles, driving a 2005 Peterbuilt tractor with a flatbed load of lumber, was traveling southbound at 3:31 a.m. on Highway 3, south of Loxie Egans Boulevard, a State Patrol report said.
An unidentified vehicle traveling southbound alongside the Peterbuilt cut in front of it, forcing Dickman to brake, according to the report.
Some of the lumber shifted forward and collided with the back of the cab of the truck, while the remainder spilled into both lanes of southbound Highway 3.
The roadway was fully blocked for 15 minutes and partially blocked for more than four hours as crews cleaned up the lumber.
The State Patrol was investigating the cause of the wreck Wednesday.
The initial report indicated that drugs and alcohol was not suspected to be a factor in the wreck and that Dickman was using a seat belt.
