Oil spill response officials announced Wednesday that Ediz Hook off Port Angeles will be closed to all traffic and pedestrians through Memorial Day weekend.
Exceptions to the closure include people traveling to the Coast Guard station, Puget Sound Pilots station or those involved in the response to an oil spill Sunday.
The Port of Port Angeles has opened its boat ramp west of Boat Haven marina on Marine Drive free of charge during the closure.
The spill occurred Sunday morning when about 500 gallons of bunker fuel overflowed during the fueling of the liquid propane gas tanker Gaz Diamond. An estimated 100 gallons of the overflow spilled into Port Angeles Harbor.
