PORT ANGELES — A meat smoker is likely to blame for a fire that destroyed a Sutter Road home Tuesday evening.
“We’re very comfortable saying it was caused by a . . . smoker,” said Roger Moeder, assistant chief for Clallam County Fire District 3.
The homeowners were smoking fish and had turned off the smoker a few minutes before the fire was noticed, Moeder said.
But the blaze spread from the wood shed where the smoker was located to the two-story home at 334 Sutter Road.
