PORT ANGELES – The city’s residential and commercial electricity customers will pay more for power beginning on Oct. 1.
A 5.9 percent increase in the daily energy charge was unanimously approved by the Port Angeles City Council earlier this week.
The increase will apply only to the daily energy charge, which is based upon usage.
The flat monthly base, or demand, charges will remain the same.
They assume no increase in wholesale power rates from the Bonneville Power Administration, which supplies 99 percent of the city’s electricity.
But the rates will be re-evaluated prior to October 2008.
