PORT ANGELES — It could be weeks, or even months, before the cause of the Dec. 9 fire in the Elks Naval Lodge building is known, but lodge officials hope to have bids in hand for repairing its First Street building by late January.
“It looks like it’s fixable, although we’re not sure on the end date (for repairs),” said Lon Riggs, chairman of the board of the Elks Lodge.
Camera Corner photography shop was destroyed by the fire, and the @Play Internet Cafe was severely damaged next door. An Elks game room on the second floor was heavily damaged.
Insurance adjusters haven’t determined a definite cause yet, Riggs said. The last he heard, the cause was “undetermined.”
Port Angeles Fire Marshal Ken Dubuc said the insurance adjusters have taken material from the fire scene for testing.
