PORT ANGELES — Artists, hobbyists and craftspeople are asked to submit original work for a show to mark the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act.
Submissions will be accepted until Sept. 15 at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
Selected work will be displayed inside the library from Oct. 10 through Jan. 7 as part of the library’s quarterly Art in the Library exhibit.
An opening reception is planned for 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10.
Congress passed the Wilderness Act 50 years ago this September, creating a national system of areas “where the Earth and its community of life are untrammeled by man, where man himself is a visitor who does not remain.”
The North Olympic Library System — which also manages public libraries in Sequim, Forks and Clallam Bay — is challenging artists of all ages, abilities and perspectives to submit original work that contemplates, celebrates or imagines the historic legislation and the expanses of nature it protects.
To submit an entry, send an email to PA-Art@nols.org with the artist’s full name and contact information, a thorough description of the work offered for exhibition and a picture, sketch, image or representative sample of each piece of artwork.
Up to 6 entries
Each person can submit up to six images for consideration.
Images should be embedded directly into the body of the email.
Confirmation of the submission’s receipt will be sent, with further directions to follow.
Art in the Library is a collaborative library-community art project that celebrates the talents of local artists through a series of rotating visual art exhibits and Art Blast! events.
