PORT ANGELES — Building a downtown transportation center, hotel and conference center will put the squeeze on ferry businesses and the parking lot that serves much of their customers, representatives of those businesses say.
Jack Harmon, manager of Victoria Express, is criticizing city leaders for failing to develop a downtown parking plan that works for the MV Coho ferry service and the parking lot across Railroad Avenue from the terminal.
The parking lot is operated by Jack Heckman, president of Budget Rent a Car of Port Angeles.
“You are going to significantly affect three businesses,” Harmon told members of the Port Angeles Business Association at their Tuesday meeting, which focused on downtown parking.
“We as a community have ignored the parking problem.”
