No one was injured when a fire raced through a Port Angeles residence Wednesday morning, causing about $25,000 damage to the structure.
Two Port Angeles fire engines and a medic unit responded to the blaze at 726 W. Fifth St. after it started about 6 a.m.
Fire Marshal Ken Dubuc said the blaze apparently began when an electric space heater in the living room ignited nearby combustible items.
The residence’s owner was at home when the fire occurred, Dubuc said. A cat escaped the flames without injury.
Smoke and heat also destroyed or ruined about $5,000 worth of items in the house, Dubuc said.
