JOYCE — A Port Angeles funeral home will donate its services to the family of a local girl killed in a head-on crash last week.
Drennan & Ford Funeral Home and Crematorium owners decided to donate their services after learning the Joyce family of Jesica V. Iberlucea couldn’t afford to bury the 16-year-old.
Jesica was killed Oct. 22 in a head-on crash on state Highway 112, just east of Eden Valley Road and west of Joyce.
“We saw a grieving family and wanted to help,” said Steve Ford, Drennan & Ford co-owner. “It is a funeral home’s responsibility to provide service to all those in need.”
Norma Iberlucea, Jesica’s mother, said Tuesday that she is grateful for the support from the funeral home and others.
“Today, for the first time I was able to see her,” Iberlucea said. “I am grateful to the funeral home and to the community — I am eternally grateful.”
