PORT ANGELES — Two girls — an 11-year-old and a 16-year-old — were arrested Monday for allegedly assaulting their school bus driver with a plastic bottle.
The girls were handcuffed and transported to the Clallam County juvenile detention center following the incident.
Undersheriff Joe Martin said there is probable cause to believe a third student was involved.
Clallam County sheriff’s deputies were still completing an incident report late Monday — detailed information is expected to be released today.
According to sheriff’s deputies, the girls were arrested after their bus driver called for assistance in dealing with rowdy children.
The bus driver pulled off Lower Elwha Road west of Port Angeles at about 3:15 p.m. to wait for assistance, deputies said.
Two other Port Angeles School District drivers responded, as did Lower Elwha Klallam tribal police, school district officials and sheriff’s deputies.
