PORT ANGELES — Councilman Glenn Wiggins was unanimously selected by his peers Wednesday night as the next mayor.
Wiggins replaces Larry Doyle, who didn’t seek re-election to the City Council in the Nov. 6 general election.
“I want to thank the City Council,” Wiggins said. “The previous mayors are not an easy act to follow — they set the bar pretty high.”
Wiggins said he has no new initiatives of his own to implement, but he will work with the council to set goals for the city.
Wiggins said he wants the council to be known as a hard-working group.
Wiggins was elected to a second term on the City Council in 1999 after running unopposed.
He is a consulting forester.
