Gov. Gary Locke has signed a long-awaited waterfront land swap between the Port of Port Angeles and the state Department of Natural Resources.
The swap paves the way for Randal Jay Ehm to develop 3.8 waterfront acres at Front and Oak streets with a Marriott hotel and conference center.
“Gov. Locke signed it yesterday,” Ehm said Friday afternoon.
“I have executable documents in hand for purchase of property from the Port.”
The swap shifts ownership boundaries on a 3.8-acre waterfront parcel that is owned 50-50 by the Port and the state Department of Natural Resources.
The Port now owns the northern half of the acreage, near the water, that would be used for the hotel and conference center.
