PORT ANGELES — Walkers, joggers, bicyclists and others planning to use Waterfront Trail on Saturday and Sunday will need to find another venue for their activities.
The Strait Thunder hydroplane races on Port Angeles Harbor will close the Waterfront Trail to the public between City Pier and the Rayonier property, as well as Francis Street Park, from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days.
City Parks and Recreation Director Marc Connelly said the trail closure is possible through a special events permit issued by the city.
“It is much the same as anyone who would ask to use the City Pier or Vern Burton Center or any city facility,” Connelly said. “It will be a temporary closure of part of the trail to support that event.”
