PORT ANGELES — Students enrolled in classes at the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center returned from winter break to find a new building waiting for them.
Monday marked the unofficial opening of building hosting the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center, Peninsula College Training Center and Clallam Business Incubator at 904 W. Ninth St.
“I think the new building is awesome,” said culinary arts student Shane Lusk.
“It is so much better than what we had to use before.”
Monday’s opening precedes the official dedication ceremony of the facility, complete with tours of the two-story building, on Saturday at 2 p.m.
“Today, with the late start (because of cold weather), returning from winter break and opening the new building, a lot of work has went into just getting used to our new home,” said Clyde Rasmussen, skills center director, on Monday.
The people who will benefit from the facility the most — the students — were learning their way around the building and forming opinions about its usefulness.
