PORT ANGELES — The Oak Street conference center developer says a land swap approved in concept this week between the Port of Port Angeles and the state Department of Natural Resources will help him to complete financing for the project.
The city of Port Angeles has tentatively selected Ehm Architecture, owned by architect Randal Jay Ehm of Seattle and San Diego to develop a $14 million hotel and conference center on a 3.8-acre parcel of waterfront land at Front and Oak streets.
Ehm wants to begin building later this year, once he gets approval from the City Council.
Ehm says he is finalizing financial plans for the project with potential investors as well as marketing and business strategies as he proceeds through the city’s “due diligence” phase — which includes showing proof that he has adequate financing for the project.
The information is due to city officials next week, by 5 p.m. April 5.
