PORT ANGELES — The owner of the second largest hotel in Port Angeles vows to go to court if necessary to derail the proposed downtown hotel and conference center.
Best Western Olympic Lodge owner Tod McClaskey says he intends to halt the “ludicrous” project.
If it comes to it, McClaskey says he is prepared to file a lawsuit to try to stop the project.
He admits a brand new hotel on the waterfront would be stiff competition for his Olympic Lodge — but says he doesn’t want to be seen as a spoiler.
“While “the intent is to halt this thing because it’s not good for us,” he said in a telephone interview, it’s also “not a smart thing for the city.”
McClaskey’s has hired Port Angeles attorney Craig Ritchie of Port Angeles to represent his interests.
Ritchie says he will first try to stop the project by appealing decisions already made approving the project.
