PORT ANGELES — Longtime Olympic Medical Center Commissioner Connie Lawrence of Joyce resigned from the hospital district’s governing board Wednesday night.
In her letter of resignation, Lawrence said she’d seen many changes in the hospital district during her 18 year tenure and decided it is time for someone else to have the same opportunity.
Lawrence’s resignation is effective at the end of the year, but commissioners agreed to begin searching immediately for her successor.
Lawrence, 77, was first appointed to the board in 1984, re-elected twice before choosing not to run again.
She was reappointed to the board in 2000 following the resignation of Richard Hanley, and was re-elected in 2001, edging Marvin Chastain of Joyce.
Lawrence represented the residents living west of Port Angeles.
